I voted yes, not just because of the "incident" that that media's pushing to the extreme, but for the whole idea of the show (and all unreality shows)

The problem is that it takes up about 5 hours of TV a day a large majority of adds is devoted to Big Brother.

I think the idea is horrible and I think that it is deplorable to even suggest that this is quality TV. These people are not real and represent 'real' people about as much as I represent birds.

The act is not bad as such infact I think she is enjoying the attention that she is getting from the whole thing but really this show is rubbish and should not be called entertainment

If a person would like to watch Big Brother, hire the movie or read the book by George Orwell and you will understand why the idea of Big Brother is such a horendous insult to the educated people of Australia as well as the rest of the world.

I think one of the questions is, does the show still promote voyeurism even if all the housemates are in there voluntarily? Of course they know they're being watched by the nation so is it really an invasion of their privacy? Similarly with the "incident", does it count as assault even though Camilla didn't firmly object?
I agree with Adam, if you don't want to watch it, don't watch it. Channel 10 is not the only channel with shows worth watching.
I vote no for having the show axed. I think it's interesting to see how people behave in situations like being locked up in a house for 3 months. I also think a large number of young people can relate and therefore be more inclined to watch the housemates, since most of them are within our wider age group. I also think the entertainment factor is huge, Friday Night Games for instance can be funny to watch along with all the funny little relationships and such that develop in the house. Really, it's a bit like many other shows like Home and Away, Neighbours or the OC. It just has non-acting people playing out the same dramas/events/whatever. All of which make great entertainment.

Its taking up valuable tv time. I could be watching The Simpsons instead of people walking around a house talking about chickens. And up late is so boring.. well i think it is. They film the housemates sleeping for like 10 minutes and nothing happens. The first big brother was probably the best..each series after that just got crapper each time.

I only get annoyed when the season starts and my regular tv programs I watch are just ignored and big brother just takes over, I completely don't give a **** if it is on or not, I remember season one was horrendous, the amount of TV time it took and everywhere was just BB BB BB, I was pissed off, but its tamed down a bit so I got no complaints, I would like to see it get axed though for something a bit more worth watching.

Not everyone will always like everything that's on tv, you don't like BB? Watch something else or don't watch TV. Channel 10 makes a lot of money of it, they can do what they want. Why would they not show a successful tv show? (by the way if you are referring to 'adds' as advertisements, it's 'ads')

No one is suggesting this is ZOMG QUALITY TV, it's just entertaning. The two don't necessarily equal each other.
It's better that we have heaps of tv dedicated to a show that's ATLEAST Australian, instead of american.

I watch BB most of the time it's on. I find it enjoyable at times. This does not make me an uneducated idiot.
I'm sorry but I really don't see how comparing the 'big brother' universe of 1984 to the actual reality show such an 'insult to the educated people of Australia'. People can form opinions of themselves. They can like a tacky reality tv show if they want.

I am having extremely strong feelings about this whole call to axe it from old people who have close minded views on something they don't even know anything about. I don't want our society and media to become censored to the point of America. It just really angers me.
The incident wasn't even SHOWN on tv. The incident isn't even that bad when you view it, it just looks like a few 20 somethings mucking around.



And in relations to the Simpsons...OMG THE SIMPSONS IS SHOWN ATLEAST 8 times a week. How much more do you want it to be shown? FFS...
