The highlights of this night had started even before we got anywhere near the club. I arrived at Berri’s house to find out no one was home and so was waiting around for her and Bianca to arrive home. Then came an experience that I’m sure most men don’t want to endure more then once… Watching girls put on make-up. But the plus side was once they were done they straightened my hair which became the novelty for the night.
Then we arrived at Metro to meet up with Samira, Erryn & Karen before heading inside to watch the hectic last minute preparations before the night was underway. Sitting up towards the back was Myself, Samira, Karen and Sam (twas a peasure to meet you Sammi) when in started to fall in the troops. First up was the very delicious Bianca B wearing the clothes that took about 30 mins of talking on the phone to convince her was just fine, but she ended up wearing a skirt instead :P. She followed by Mr Mikey C who I do not believe I have ever seen at Metro before and then the awesome 4some of Sarah, Candy, Amy & Sylvia. First up on the decks was Rob M who I have to say with his new haircut/hairstyle looks like that damn sexy Angel from Buffy.
Usually I say the room was slowly starting to fill but it was like I blinked and the room was packed! The room was rocking and myself and Jem went to find ourselves a nice circle to have some fun in. I can’t help myself every time I hear Solitare – I Like Love, I just have to get myself up and start dancing away. Then along came someone I wasn’t expecting… INES!!! HI INES!!!! But I’m not going to say hi to Cass cause she was mean to me and wouldn’t wave and wouldn’t give me a hug. Poo bum! After Rob was Phil Ross and Berri wanted to give him a hug, however first we had to ask permission from his “Boss” (also known as a girlfriend but that’s how he put it…)
Then I went up to the Retro room to have a little dance with Piero and laugh as he taunted Phil Ross on the stage from his position behind the decks upstairs. But what happened next in the main room was a real blessing. I saw this man about a year and a half ago at Sub Lounge and since have been wanting to see him again. He’s also become a new recruit to the Reckless DJ’s and so automatically becomes in God DJ Status… Of course I’m talking about A-Styles on the decks playing a sweet sweet mix of R’n’B, Rap & Hip-Hop, playing some mad tunes ranging anywhere from Cypress Hill – Low Rider to Musical Youth – Pass The Douchie (looks at Bianca).
Then it was time to do what has kinda become a tradition, go up to the Retro room and grab Joe Sofo’s ass… Did I just say that? :P No I go up there to spend quality time with him and steal afew mixes here and there. So there we were, Me, Joe Sofo, Bianca, Berri, Ines & the occasional visits from Erryn, Vinchenso, Mikey C, and basically all of MU. However something that went against tradition, for some reason Phil G didn’t end up playing so Joe was transferred to the main room to play the ending set. Nothing is more fantastic then an ending set from Joe Sofo, tunes like R2D2 and the like are always played!
Then I had to pop out to the font quickly to bring in Josie & the Infamous Josh for the last 45 minutes of the night but Erol caught me and I also ended up promoting for the next Metro & Angel with Andrew Morello. All in all I had a fun as night and hope everyone else can agree with me on that! I gave you 8.5 outta 10. And sorry to have to say this but Metro does throw a better birthday party then Grumpy with things like a years worth of photo’s up on the screen above the DJ (lots of MU members in there) and the massive massive balloon drop in which followed and even more massive balloon pop!
Huzzar for all and I look forward to Christmas time…
