It was cold! VERY COLD! But still there were some who wished to brave the cold because they are what you call a loyal crowd. I jumped off my train at Flinders and straight onto a Werribe to go the long journey of one stop to Parliament where I realised that Becky was on the same train as me. We said hello and began to walk towards Metro. Then I bumped into the ever radiant Bianca and one of her friends, Becky & her friend walked off and then we began to walk towards Metro.

I was going down to the Kandy Kollective on Russell Street to pick myself up a jumper, then I went to meet Sarah, Sylvia, Kandi & Amy in McDonalds where we all signed the card and then caught the tram a whole one stop to Metro. Pretty soon we were inside and our night was underway.

Just for a change Piero was kicking it off tonight bringing the slowly growing crowd a taste of some good old house tunes. After awhile the music stoped. The lights went out. The projection screen came down. And the Reckless DJ’s logo appeared. The Reckless DJ’s, who consist of Dean K, Simon Sez, Kay-Z & Sef, are avid fans of Jackass & CKY and so that’s what their short movie consisted of, children wrestling bears, the boys fighting and (my personal fav) Dean K driving around in a Go-Kart before crashing into a gutter and flying out accordingly.

If their movie wasn’t enough for you then damn their set shouldda been! They are getting better and better and I won’t be surprised when the Reckless DJ’s are having their own shows with DJ’s like Green Lantern warming up for them. What made their set even more special is when DJ Nino Brown jumped onto the consol as well and became part of the team. It doesn’t matter if they were playing R’n’B, their set was fucken amazing and they definitely got the crowd going.

Then onto the decks to give us dance fans a bit of a go was Metro veteran Phil Ross, always a crowd teaser and pleaser, well maybe not just the crowd ;). Next was a solo set by the man Nino Brown himself. Just like last time he got the crowd jumping and again he amazed me with his turntablism techniques.

Then ‘twas time to introduce the reason a lot of people were at Metro for this event, DJ Green Lantern. Being Eminem & 50 Cent’s DJ, as well as selling 500,000 copies of his first mix CD my expectations were high for this man and I was thankfully not let down. If my jaw hadn’t hit the floor from the talent I’d seen already tonight it was firmly placed there by Green Lantern. His awesome mix of R’n’B, Rap & Hip-Hop sent the crowd into a frenzy and everyone I’ve asked has agreed that he did an awesome set.

To finish off the night was the amazing Phil G. My only problem with the set he played was that after the about 4 hours of R’n’B we’d just heard he played only a few dance songs before getting back into R’n’B to finish off the night.

Best bit of the night however was when we gave Joe his card. Josie had the brilliant idea of purchasing an extra large birthday card which was then signed by the likes of: Me, Josie, Sarah, Ines, Jocelyn, Erol, The Morello’s, Has, Nino Brown, The Reckless DJ’s, Phil G, Phil Ross, Piero, Dwyane, Rob and quite a few others.

Much enjoyed night boys and a fairly nice crowd. 8.5 out of 10 *Thumbs Up*

LOOKING FORWARD TO NIK FISH!!!
