i'm going to take a wild stab at the whole point of the series…

the plane crash was staged/occured deliberately, and under the hatch is a research station where scientists are watching the survivors over the period of their stay as part of an experiment into human behaviour

then again i could be wrong, but it seems probable

Nice idea, but I believe you're wrong. That'd make sense if opening and going down the hatch was in the finale; it's in the first episode. Kinda defeats the purpose of the whole season, you know?

Ok I can’t be stuffed writing out everything but
They got the baby back from the French women
First thing we see a guy who’s walking around what looks like a apartment, has cd player couch shower fridge everything, then we find out the ‘apartment’ is down the hatch
They opened the hatch and found that it was locked from the inside and it says quarantine on the inside,
Jack then decides they shouldn’t go down there cos the ladder was broken
Loc and the girl (I forget her name, but the one who is always with jack) go back to the hatch
Loc lowers the girl into the hatch, a big light shines out and she disappears.
Loc goes after her
Then Jack turns up of course and goes down the hatch
He finds a massive room with computer and heaps of equipment
then he see loc who has a gun to his head and the guy who is holding it is some guy jack met ages ago (flash back)...anyway so he says who and that was the end of the episodes
lol so much more happened but yeah
I would suggest downloading it

The episode begins with a man rising from a bunk bed and logging onto an Apple II computer using "the numbers". He then gets dressed and begins his day, as the camera moves about the surrounding rooms, which contain an assortment of objects from the 1960s to the present (accompanied by the song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Mama Cass). During this routine he is seen injecting something into his arm (Incidentally, "the numbers" again appear on each vial of the liquid in the cabinet). After a couple of minutes, he is interrupted by an explosion, spurring the man to arm himself before using a telescope-and-mirror system to examine the location of the explosion. As his gaze reaches further and further through the complex, it continues up a shaft to the faces of Jack and Locke standing around the now-open Hatch.

At the Hatch entry, Jack expresses reservations about entering the passageway, noting that they should wait for the sun to come up before anything is done. Locke, on the other hand, feels that their entry should not be delayed, even after Kate points out that the back of the Hatch door reads 'QUARANTINE'. At the same time, at the caves, Shannon and Sayid search the jungle for Walt's dog Vincent, who has run off. The pair find Vincent in a clearing, and attempt to catch him, but he runs off. The two are separated, and, while alone, Shannon hears the whispers of the jungle. Walt appears, dripping wet and speaking incoherently (which viewers figure out is actually played backwards). When Sayid returns, he finds Shannon on the ground.

During the walk back from the Hatch, Hurley shares with Jack his story about the numbers inscribed on the outside of the Hatch, but he is disappointed by Jack's disbelieving response. Upon reaching the caves, Jack explains the situation to the survivors, promising them they will all be all right, as long as they stay together. No sooner does Jack finish this speech than Locke appears, carrying cable and saying he is going into the Hatch. Soon after, Kate follows behind him. While Locke is easing her down the shaft, Kate realizes that there is something in the hatch, and in a sudden burst of light from within the Hatch, Kate mysteriously disappears.

Back at the caves, Jack arms himself, deciding that he is going after Kate and Locke, and, upon reaching the Hatch, he finds no one there. He rappels down the shaft to look for Kate and Locke, and finds a maze of passageways. He comes across a colorful mural painted on the wall, featuring the numbers, including their sum, 108, prominently in the centre of a sun. On this mural is an eye and the words "I'm sick", which may explain why the man in the Hatch injected himself with that medicinal bottle. He also discovers a spot where the gun case key is pulled up, as if attracted by a strong magnetic force. Finally, after being surprised by a bright light and loud music (specifically the Mama Cass song that played earlier), he enters what appears to be an underground geodesic dome, which contains an array of computer equipment from various decades, including an Apple II computer, its prompt glowing. As Jack is about to use it, Locke appears and tells Jack not to touch it. Jack raises the gun and asks, "Where's Kate?" Locke does not answer, as the resident of the Hatch has a gun pointed at the side of his head.

Meanwhile, in flashback sequences, Jack encounters his future wife, Sarah, who has arrived in his ER after a horrific car crash that she apparently caused. The other victim, who dies when Jack has to choose which patient to work on (time of death 8:15 am, or 815, the same as the flight number), shares Shannon's last name of Rutherford, and in a later episode it is revealed that Mr Rutherford is her father. In the events that follow, Jack is first chastised by his father about his unoptimistic bedside manner and then advised by a stranger named Desmond (whom he meets when he falls over when jogging up the steps of a stadium) about his need to feel and provide more hope. After his conversation with Desmond, in which he asserted his belief that he had failed to help Sarah, he returns to her room, where he discovers that she has experienced a miraculous recovery.

Back in the underground dome, Locke tells Jack to put the gun down. The gunman threatens that he will shoot Locke if Jack doesn't surrender. Jack refuses, instead taunting Locke about his destiny. Finally, the gunman steps out, and Jack recognizes him as Desmond.

I loved the first episode of this season, even though we didn't find out much (which i suppose is the whole point of the series, but meh). I even had a reminder in my phone to tell me that Lost was on, im that obsessed.

Ive seen up to episode 18 season 2. Ill probably watch past it soon because i have along way to go till TV gets up to 18. Season 1 was a tad better. There are too many empty episodes this season where sometimes NOTHING gets answerd. There are alot of good eps though. My favorite episode is Hurleys ep, where it flashbacks to his life in the crazy home. Wont spoil anything for anyone, great ep though. Some eps will shock most of you though, alot of things just come out of nowhere! Claire's ( if im not mistaken thats the aussie mother ) episode is realii interesting aswell.

Dj_stick, im reading Lord of the Flies for english @ school, and yeh there are alot of similarities. Lost just has more of a science theme.

Headland and Blue Healers were two of the gayest shows in my opinion, and what is it with channel 7 sometimes not showing lost and showing some dodgy crap?

OMG, bit late. But omg, what an episode! The season finale was pretty good. Its good me crying till February 07. But then again i will download the episodes in Octomber when it goes to air in US.

I cant wait till season 3. I think they do drag it out abit too long, but once they get to the point its so worth it.

Season 3 resumes in February on the 7 network. Now there is no way in hell im waiting for that. Thats still ages away. They start in October in the US, so i guess i will have to download them. Yes i know its illegal and all but meh. 5 months is too long of a wait when your addicted like me.

The others are really interesting people, i wanna know more about them. Where they come from, how long have they been on the island, wtf are they doing there, why does Fenry ( Fake Henry ) insist they are the good guys?

Just watched episode 7. Episode 7 is the episode that was aired on chan7 last wedsnday. my god. most people tell me that there over lost and dont get the feck is goin on anymore.

Im a lost nut lol. im on the lost forums all the time. Its soo wierd, so much crap is happening and all of it is somehow connected. Probably the best show ive watched.

Anyway recap of ep 7.

Jack is operating on Ben ( the leader of the others ). He is threatening to kill him on the operating table if Sawyer and Kate dont get away safely. So they let them go.

there are a few flashbacks from Juliets life. So... i wonder if the others will really let Jack leave now.. they said he could go back to his normal life if he saved Ben. Oh.. Ben also tells Juliet she can leave the island if he survives.

Wtf was up with that screen in room 23? with all that trance blaring out of the speakers.

Oh and.. there a polar bears on the main island. we saw them season1 and i think 2. Anyway, the cages that Kate and Sawyer were trapped in were apparently cages for bears.. i wonder if theres a connection with that.

Cant wait till everything unfolds.

Okay so this weeks episode didnt focus on the Others, Kate, Jack or Sawyer. It focused on Desmond. The one that was pushing the button before the losties came around.

Now, it explainedwhat had happend to him after he turned the key that wuld supposedly save the world and explode the hatch bla bla.

From what i understood, he travelled back in time, back to 1996. He rememberd a few things from the island, he was re-living everything just like it was the first time round. i cbf explaining everything, because i doubt many of you folly lost.

He then awoke back on the island naked, just like on episode 1 season 3. Anyway another interesting thing, he saved Charlie's ( the rock star ) life twice already, and has told Charlie, he will die, and cannot save him all the time.

Anyone else watch tonights episode? So many answers answerd, yet so many more have come up.

I don't believe it was the island had the power per se, Desmond seem to be living multiple timelines of his own life. Which raises some interesting issues, without bringing the whole Charlie thing in to it. Wonder when the actors contract gives out?

Lost isnt going anywhere anytime soon, im pretty sure creators are going with a few more seasons.

BRWA, its very wierd i know ha lol. Thats what makes it such a cool show though, most of the things you never expect. Theres clues in each episode too, so it makes you feel like your apart of it. Not your average show.
