Replacement thread.
Talk about your creations here. Accept peoples opinions, don't bitch when someone says what you made is crap and accept that it's crap or not to other peoples liking. Either that or shutup and don't post in here.

i've got some crap i've pulled up out of boredom in pshop/bryce/illus. in my graphics gallery, nothing stellar but meh
but i have made a couple of websites in dreamweaver
www.southernlifts.com.au was designed by me
www.shadowdance.com.au i designed the site, but it was later updated with more interactive stuff by someone who knew what they're doing

thanks for the tip chris, done and done, i was told by heidi that its over 500 on width but cant remember what exactly.

btw, on the matter of graphics, your sig is oversize marko
500x150 (iirc) is the limit. not sure on the width but 150 wide is definately the maximum we're allowed to have
remove or resize your sig

I guess I'll put some of my (crappy) pieces up...I've put them on mu before though.
These are from Studio arts (3/4 -2004). I don't like them anymore. I think they are cheesy cliches.
http://img57.echo.cx/img57/231/trapped1resized2dn.th.jpg (http://img57.echo.cx/my.php?image=trapped1resized2dn.jpg)
Piece 1: Shitty. I hate it. I re-did this so many times, it was just played with too much. It doesn't look right, so I just ended up giving up because I was running out of time for school.
http://img245.echo.cx/img245/3155/fallingapartcopyresized0tv.th.jpg (http://img245.echo.cx/my.php?image=fallingapartcopyresized0tv.jpg)
Piece 2-I like this best out of all I think. I wanted to do more experimenting with stitching paper and scanning it in, but I ran out of time.
http://img297.echo.cx/img297/1359/1copyresized9jm.th.jpg (http://img297.echo.cx/my.php?image=1copyresized9jm.jpg)
Meh. Black fabric on right isn't blended well. Although I think i wanted that to stand out and act like a barrier but I can't remember.
http://img245.echo.cx/img245/4699/realityresized5ra.th.jpg (http://img245.echo.cx/my.php?image=realityresized5ra.jpg)
This is ok. Very basic. Not much to it. I like the diagonal transition from messy>blank>clouds (freedom). As i said cheesy meaning.
I was quite pleased with the wings though.
There, that's enough for now. Mark you can tell me they are crappy. I know they are so it doesn't bother me much.
.:MARK:.
11th January, 06, 01:25 AM
there not bad, i personal fave would be the one with the wings. you done a good job on that one, all have ALOT of details though, some good, some too messy i think.. good work though
heidi
11th January, 06, 01:51 AM
Actually that's good for me. Because I wanted them to be detailed so you could look at it and find things and get lost(I didn't really acheieve that though.), because it's meant to reflect stuff about me...
but yeah i wouldn't say they're messy as such just the juxtaposition is a bit off and doesn't fit.

Yep thats the tutorial that gave me my insperation. I wasnt sure what a 'groupie' image would look like so i googled it.
On a side not my website is complete (see sig). I think it needs a couple touch up actualy.

Yeah doing that ****, just totally defeats the purpose.
Must say Marko your pass for that Greek Night @ Vanilla is definitly a nice piece of art. I've yet to figure out that style. I Havnt made a graphic out of boredom in a long time. I Just design my websites out of boredom lol and thats gone through 4 Versions. Maybe i'll post some of my crap one day, right now cant be fucked.
Also Heidi, your piece are interesting and definitly good, definitly messy but not in a bad way if you get what i'm trying to say.
Also Mecha, your website is nice but the Iframe really ruins it. You should try PHP, it's easy as to learn and much easier then an Iframe, look it up on Google. But only works if your host supports it.

.:MARK:.

Firing up this thread again.
Today/tonight i was bored, opened up good ol' photoshop and started playing with it like i usually do when drainedd!

Here it is:

^ To plain, to much space with a whole lotta nothing happening. You also didnt really do much dude. Try something more complex..
heidi
8th February, 07, 10:42 PM
Did you use the cutout render, or did you trace your face with the pen tool making a vector?
.:MARK:.
8th February, 07, 10:46 PM
^ To plain
my intention was for it to be. simple. So yeah, plain is what i wanted.
Did you use the cutout render, or did you trace your face with the pen tool making a vector?
I used the Cutout render, what i found weird though, was it didn't render the back of my hair.

MEHHHHHHHHHHHHH! You asked for feedback bitch, and you got my oppinion..
.:MARK:.
8th February, 07, 11:03 PM
^Least there was a better discussion about it on msn lol.
Like i said to emad privately, it was what i could see in my mind. Just tried to create it on photoshop :)

thats hot ass.. sometimes too much will wreck it
.:MARK:.
10th February, 07, 11:09 AM
^Thats exactly what i fear.
Like when i was making this, pretty much when i was done i was thinkig, what should i add now. But then thought no no, it could wreck it, leave it simple. not overdone.

^I do know how to Vector, just the cut-out render is quick and easier?
It also looks way crappy and is a cheating way to do it.
It's not about how much space there is and if you have enough random things there. It's more how you are using the space and what relation the stuff has to each other.
Pretty sure that's what Emad means.
.:MARK:.
10th February, 07, 05:33 PM
How is the cut-out render a cheating way to do it, i wanted that effect. Quick and easy.
As for the relation side of things, um, everything in there relates to me. The caption i have for it on my myspace is 'When i close my eyes and think of house, it looks something like this'
heidi
10th February, 07, 05:36 PM
The general consensus among design people on the use of most renders, especially the cut out one is it's crap and shouldn't be used.
But if you're happy with posivitive comments from people that don't really know what they're talking about, then whatever.
.:MARK:.
10th February, 07, 05:40 PM
Nah please go on, i want to use this im my portfolio to get into the best school of graphic design, please?
Like i said, i can vector, but why. when i can just click twice and i got an effect thats good enough.
Were on different terms with this :) lol.

Thats exactly what i thought when i saw half the replys. There all kids who you just slap 3 colors togethor in paint and instantly they'll say ZOMG 10/10!!

As I said it really doesn't look very good. People who know anything about photoshop know what you did to get that affect and that it doesn't require any skill at all.
I really wouldn't use that in a folio, or were you being sarcastic?
.:MARK:.
10th February, 07, 06:30 PM
Ok look, it was something quick, 3 am in the morning. If i want, i'll to a vector piece, and get back to you one day ok? lol.
And once again, the stuff i had in the picture, did fucking relate! take the lines (bars) for example, notice 1 bar goes over me, representing i am held back with it.
gah.
