Yeh I’m so cool! The security remembered me this time and when I got there said “Are you gonna come in now?” so I did :D. There was Mikey, Berri, Bianca, Frank and another guy that I’ve forgotten his name already :S. We were just muckin around, starting at the really poor excuse for a mixer that was sitting in the main room consol. Being the siik kent that I am I stole a few mixes just to make sure my presence was know, but also with the ulterior motive that maybe one day Mick will notice that I can mix and maybe give me a QBH main room set ;).
People started coming in, and for his first (I think) mainroom set at QBH Mr Mikey C was on the wheels-of-steel for a set of rockin’ house music. Because the security were rather tight tonight we weren’t actually allowed to chillax on stage which sucked, so I was sitting on the subwoofer just to stage right (if you’re on the stage looking out into the crowd). Soon we were joined by Rob, Timmay, Stefi & The Perky One. Also soon after that Mr Robbie P and POY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robbie was next onto the decks playing a most fine blend of house and through his set I came to a conclusion. House music as a whole is branching off into two different styles of house. One is a mix of Rap & House (For example Ladies Want It) and the other a mix of Rock ‘n’ Roll and House (For example the Dirty Funker remix of Lithium, or indeed the remix that only Robbie owns of Song 2). Bastard. I’ve also thought of names for these which I shall call them from now on, they shall be called Rock ‘n’ House (very original) and Rappouse (Again very original). And thus ends my thought of the day.
Josie, Ines & Francis soon showed up and we followed Merx (with the help of Mick) up to the RnB room to frig around while there was no one in there. But soon people started to come up and we kept on poking Merx in the arse. I got rather tired after a good round of poking and so I lay out the chairs in a nice way and lay down for a small nap. At one stage Ines realised that my fly was undone (as happens a lot on this particular pair of jeans cause they suck total ass) and she kindly came over and did it back up for me :). But after awhile we decided to go back into the main room to see what was going on.
Phil G was cutting sick mixing it up between RnB and Bangin’ and, as he usually does, had the whole crowd in a frenzy. I was just writing down the tracks as Phil pumped em out when again I heard the most welcome noise of a girl screaming out my name, but this time it was a voice I hadn’t heard scream my name in a long time and that I’ve missed very dearly, My Melly! Her and her new curly hair and her English friends had joined us for the night :D.
Cristian Alexander was out next for another show case of his vocal abilities and I got given the duty of holding back the onslaught of screaming girls that wanted to join the already large bunch already dancing onstage with Cristian. I’ll tell you one thing, it’s damn hard trying to stop 25 to 30 girls all pushing up against you.
Phil then asked me to help carry his stuff out to the car which I gladly agreed to help with. He told me to wait with the stuff while he went and got the car which I guessed was just around the corner. Perhaps 15 minutes later he comes back, not sporting the BMW as per usual, but this time a Ford Ute. I was sooooooooooooooooo cold it just wasn’t funny! But soon I was back inside, I held Mel tight for warmth and watched Francis and the ever sexy Beau rocking it once again in the circles to the sounds of Rob M & Paul B. I also did something I had not done for months and months. I actually jumped into a circle to see if I still knew how to do it. Shock came to me that I did. But another shock came shortly after when I saw another who could shuffle! I don’t mean like the “ravers” you see in clubs, I mean real Melbourne Shuffle styles, and I was damn impressed that there was an educated person in the room. I was just watching him cut sick and I felt obliged to go up and introduce myself to him. Sadly I’ve forgotten his name, but he said he was going to NRG7 and so if I end up going I’ll hopefully see him there.
All in all I did have a rather good night. I’ll give you a 9 outta 10 for that one boys. A good holiday and I look forward to the next lot!
