Family’s gone away for the weekend, got bored sitting around at home so I bumped off early down to Caseys. Got there at about 3.45 and found Dwayne downstairs flirting with a girl over a game of pool. Their pool skills were obviously no match for mine as they spent about 5 minutes just trying to hit the black ball in. After the game we all went for a walk around Glenferrie Road and stopped at some heath place to get a juice. As we were waiting outside two guys came across and told us that Seven had been cancelled, so here I am thinking “Ok the rumours have already started” and I asked who told him, he said all the promoters got an SMS, so I checked my phone and sure enough he was right. I then introduced myself to find out that he is actually Beau (bkclubba) on MU which was cool.
They left and we went back inside and I started mucking around on the decks before Rob M showed up to start off the night. Soon enough we were also joined by Berri, Bianca & Erryn :). The room filling can be summarised by the term “Slowly But Surely”, it was getting there, but ever so slowly.
At one point Rob turns to me and says “Anything you wanna play?” my reply was “Are you nuts? Do you remember what happened last time you said that to me?” But at the end of his set he forced me to mix in Madan which I did alright. Then I heard the familiar (and most welcome) sound of a girl screaming my name ;) lol. I turned around and it was Stefii! She then informed me that not only was I one bus ride away from her, but she was also just one bus ride away from me! :D.
I then saw someone I never would have expected to come out this way, true I go out his way to Angel, but to come here I never thought. Twas the exceptionally hansome Nik V! Piero’s set was up next, when he came along they also opened up the side room playing just RnB. So naturally within about two seconds our room was basically empty again. So after playing some more house, Piero let me try and win the crowd back by bangin’ it out ‘ardcore which was fun. Twas nice to see Beau ripping up the dancefloor non-stop, and I am also quite pleased to say I did bring quite a bit of the crowd back with the tunes, although I couldn’t play some of the songs I wanted to because the crowd was just enjoying the fine blend of Cheddar and Colby I was playing ;).
Dwayne then told me I had to go play RnB for 5 mintues while BeeJay went out to his car to fetch another crate of records. After once mix he was back and I ran back into the main room. Then along came the 12 Inches Of Love himself, Mr Phil Ross, sporting his normal 3 cases, leather jacket, muscly arms, and childish grin. He was rather proud of himself at this moment as he had an article all about him in this magazine, which I now have to go out on the hunt for. He rocked it till the end of the night, letting me take over to play some RnB from time to time.
The night all in all was a top night out which I enjoyed and I’m very much looking forward for another event next Friday. So bring your brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, school mates, goats, and light-saber wielding hampsters down next week for another great event. 9 outta 10.
