Well I dunno about you, but I had a really good day! Apart from the getting no sleep the night before obviously. Went shopping in the city, found some good stuff, went and met people in the park, then came to QBH. I arrived outside to see that the ticket line was rather extensive and that no one I knew was anywhere in site :(. But soon enough along came the Skitz Mix Master, Franki, Jem, Rob, Timmay and Stefii. Jem & Franki didn’t end up coming in, so me, Rob, Timmay and Stefii just went in listening to the sounds of DJ Fusion. This boy, much contrary to my first reports is getting better and better I’ll give him that. Erryn & Josie were already inside rockin it on stage, but managed to tear themselves away to shower me in hugs (while three girls just sat there staring as us).
The room wasn’t filling much and we were getting scared of a repeat of last school holidays. So there I was, sitting on the edge of the stage when someone came up and started playing with my hair (as most people do, still unsure of why that is). So I look up and see a very friendly smile above my head. IT WAS JOE SOFO!! He was going got DJ at a formal later so he was playing the 5 – 6 slot giving the crowd an hour of RnB. So far we’d also been joined by Sarah, Candy, Amy and Poy and the main room was starting to fill.
Next onto the decks was DJ TKO, or as I figured the TKO could stand for The King Of House. Tight mixes, lots of humping the mixer, and… HE PLAYED LAURENT WOLF – ABOUT THAT!! *Love*… But next onto the decks is who we were really waiting for… Her first club gig and it’s bigger then mine! Extremely jealous but at the same time extremely pleased for her, DJ Josie! Only a 30 min set, but still enough time for some mixes and some good tunes. She’s getting better and better every time I hear her, and she had a lot of the crowd fixated on her.
Next on stage to make the girls and guys to crazy was Igor from Big Brother to say a big hi there and hello. Girls were fainting, guys were squealing, everyone wanted to touch him, it was a very amusing site to see. Next up was the DJ Legend, Top Gun, Smart Arse and all-round Good Bloke DJ Paul B. After Igor had left the stage I couldn’t seem to find anyone at all so I was just kinda standing like a lost little boy on stage for ages when I saw someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. Twas my Emzi!! I ran over gave her a big hug, said hello to her friends and smiled a lot :P.
Soon enough it was time for Melbourne’s answer to the back street boys to make their way on stage. Mercury 4 started with their song that everyone seems to know “Get Me Some Of That” and before they began I had realised that just like back in the good old days of Urban Vibes when Scott Cain was pelted for two whole songs with bottles, the whole crowd was armed with Glow Sticks. I warned Paul, but there wasn’t exactly much we could do except go out into the crowd and try to catch the people throwing things and chuck em out. And we did that well! But after a few songs I got bored and went downstairs to find that everyone had left me to go hang with Igor. Down there was Mikey, Frank, Andrew Morello, Erryn, Josie, Theo and 3 girls that I didn’t know, as well as Igor.
Now I’ll admit I’m not the fan of Big Brother that I once was, and I thought that Igor would be your typical arrogant rude person. But after just 10 seconds in that room I knew I was much mistaken. He straight away shook my hand and enjoyed the hilarity of my jumper. Then we were all just sitting around talking about things like clubs, underages, big brother, life after big brother, and other just random things. He was a really nice and sincere guy and I now have a lot of respect for him. But Paul had to come ruin our fun and steal Igor away so he could give away a phone to one lucky lady before he had to depart the stage.
Rob M was next up playing some RnB, by using my puppy dawg eyes and sweetie pie voice I got him to let me go one-on-one with him mixing up some RnB and (not meaning to sound up myself here) I’m getting better and better at my RnB mixing which I’m quite pleased about :). Phil G was supposed to have arrived by this stage but due to excessive party celebrations as it was his birthday on Sunday, he’d only just woken up and would be a little late, so out I went to Rob M’s car to grab his two tonne record crate that had all his banging in it so Rob could continue for one song before Phil showed up to keep it going. So then doing the chivalrous thing, I helped Rob carry that crate back out to his car then went back inside again to see Phil G rock it for the remainder of the night. And for the remainder of the night people just continued to leave me one after the other till I was all alone :(.
All in all I had an awesome night and I’m looking forward to next week. 9 outta 10!
