After leaving the Metro promoters meeting it wasn’t till half way through the tram trip that Berri said “Did we forget Josie?” The answer was, yes, they did. I didn’t, however I did think those girls knew that we didn’t have Josie so I thought she would make her own way there. Ahhh well she made it in the end and that’s all that matters. So myself, Erryn, Berri & Bianca rocked up to QBH at about 4.45 or so and the lines were fair but not too long. I bumped into my good friend Skitz outside (see I didn’t forget you this time mate ;)) Me and Berri jumped in straight away, and entered to MU’s own Robbie P (Pix) rocking it hardcore with some mad house tunes. Ladies and gents I don’t care who you are or what you think, cause this man is going to be all over the overage house scene oh so very soon. Hopefully some underages too, but first some people have to learn some respect.
Before I go any further I must make a big thankyou to some girls. I apologise that I don’t remember your names, however one of you I do believe was Holly, they had the belief that even though they had boyfriends, that if they danced with me I’d have more chance of picking up. But I had to tell them what I tell everyone else, I can’t dance! But they were the kindest girls and I wish I could have seen them again to say thankyou for trying, so if you’re out there girls THANKYOU!
Franky G was going at it playing more mad as House tunes, including one top track which I must include and tell everyone to get, Victoria Luna – Salsita, top track! He came up to me later in the night and asked what I thought, I told him I loved it, and he said there were some others saying it was poor. So if those people are reading this, go back to school young children and learn some respect before I get medieval on yo ass! Next up was Paul B and Rob M showing the crowd what a real party is all about, dropping Retro, RnB, House, Rap, Dance, Trance, everything. Definitely a highlight for the night was when they played Tarentella, for the Italians, then Zorba’s Dance for the Greeks, then just to be fair to the skippies they played Blink 182 – Damnit. Rob M was in tears laughing, I think I was the only one in the entire crowd who wished that they’d actually played more then 10 seconds of that song.
But speaking of rock type music it was finally time for someone who I believe has a closet life as a rock ‘n’ roll lover, Australia’s number one DJ and part of the mixing machine behind the last MoS Annual, DJ John Course. I say he’s probably a closet rock ‘n’ roll lover because I did notice in a lot of his songs some phatt electric guitar riffs, he even played Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit (Adam Freeland Remix) which is a nearly perfect remix, it just needs a lot more of the main guitar riff. But back to John, besides the fact that he’s a top bloke and an absolute treat to talk to, he’s also a damn skilled mixer, he’s juggling beats, juggling riffs, juggling claps, and we weren’t even expecting the circus tonight! But his mixing was tight, and his track selection top! He’s definitely in the running for the set of the year, perhaps even in the running for the top 10 best sets ever. Well done John, you did well!
And to close off the night was my lover and good friend DJ Joe Sofo, kicking some RnB beats before going hard as hell. He was just about to play my song when the night finished. Heart break. But next time.
It was an awesome night I’m giving you an 8.5 out of 10! Make sure you all check out DJ Ken Walker next week at QBH.
