After three god damn year 12 SAC’s in two days I was about to burst with boredom! No matter what anyone tells you… School IS NOT the best years of your lives I was looking forward to this night for awhile, my first club gig and Grant Smillie playing the same night. I’d just gotten out of the shower (fantastic image right there) and saw on my phone that Dave was in the city so I thought I’d go meet up with him. I got in there at about 4 O’clock with my heavy as the weight of the world record bag and back pack on me to meet my two pimpin’ buddies in their nice matching (but at the same time opposite) suits and Dave with Mafia styles hat on.
We sat at the lanes edge before we decided to go inside and go check out the new booth and the renovations Metro has done. There is now a 4th room, that used to be the chill area between the Retro & RnB rooms, which will be used for rising stars like myself, Robbie P (Pix :P) and Tay, playing house… But we should be playing BANGIN HARD AS **** TRANCE!!!!!!! Sorry about that…
Well time came around to open and people slowly began to trickle in. I then noticed that Rob M was standing in front of the decks so I felt it in my best interest to go say hello and gloat about the new house tunes I had. We were standing around with Rob getting very scared that there would be a crowd of 40 people for the entire night but Rob blasted out some mad beats including Grab My Hips and the Lucent Wolf Remix of Ritamo Dynamic – Calinda, which got the few but strong going at it. Then along came Berri, Bianca, Julez and a new recruit, which I do apologise most sincerely but I’ve forgotten your name. I then gained myself a personal body attachment going by the name of Berri for the next 5 minutes or so… Hey, I’m not complaining…
I was just chillin with the pimps when i saw this girl standing by herself over where we usually stand and i though "Hmmm... Maybe she's waiting for someone..." so i just left her alone... Then i looked back about 5 mins later and she was still there and she waved to me. So i went over just to find out who it was and when i could see her clearly i got rather excited... TOASTER!!! Janae The Metro Queen had kept her promise to me and came to Metro to give me hugs!!
I then went up stairs to go head to head with Pixie just for a little fun mixing up some House, Techno (actual Deep Dish Techno) and some Prog beats. Then back downstairs and bumped into Erryn, Ines & Hana with DJ Phil Ross in the back ground giving the crowd some RnB flavas.
I was just standing beside the stage minding my own business when SOMEONE decides it would be a fantastic idea to get the RockStar hair dudes to straighten and fork around with my hair. Erol seemed to get really excited at this idea for some reason. So he went over and the lovely girl said she should be able to. So once Hana had her hair done (you looked DAMN sexy rockstar!) she sat me down and began her work… And the result I must say and just about everyone agreed with me, is that it looked sick as!!! It was like straightened but with bits gelled up everywhere and just crazy styles!!
But while all this was going on I was being mesmerised by the sounds of House legend DJ Grant Smillie. Now here is the way House DJ’s rank… You’ve got your ****, then your ok, then your good, then your amazing, then your fucken amazing, then your absolutely fucken amazing, then you’ve got Grant Smillie. He is a master at mixing, getting the crowd going and using different bits of technology. His best mix by far was when he created a loop using the CDJ1000, then beat matched it up with his next tune in the break down and cut sick and all I could do was jism ma skism. All I can say to him is, Nice One Bruva!
Taking over the reigns next was DJ Merx to play some RnB before on came DJ Phil G to clock off the night. It ended up with Myself, Ines & Hana with RockStar styles hair, although Tess kept on trying to flatten Ines’ hair :P…
Overall, even though I didn’t get to DJ I had a top night! 9 out of 10 and I’m sooooooo looking forward to the holidays…
Oh yeh… And Josie showed up for the last 10 minutes…
