You know the life and times of a nightclub aren’t all fun and games. I would like to insert a moments silence for the workers behind the scenes. Jason does an insane job trying to balance 15,000,000,000 (that’s Billion) things at once just an hour before the event, and for this we are truly thankful. This is not to say that Joe & Erol don’t have it hard enough as it is, but no one sees what Jason does… GO JASON!!!
Now that’s out of the way lets have some fun! Myself and Brendan B got in quickly and welcomed the competitors for the DJ Comp, Robbie P, Matt C, DJ Tay and David P. We all then proceeded upstairs and took it in turns showing off our skills for each other and this is where I started to get worried! My Co-Dj’s were more then just good and I could tell we were definitely in for a good night.
I then proceeded downstairs to have a meet-and-greet with the usuals and it was a pleasure to see all their smiling faces! Rob M seemed to be having a good time, he even wiped his hand on his jeans before shaking my hand, a deep mark of respect on my native planet. Then I saw the delicious Bianca B and felt inclined to creep up on her . Then I returned to my counterparts to show off some more before Joe Sofo arrived and pretty soon the competition was off!
First onto the Decks was DJ Matt C kickin’ it with some house then into RnB, he played an awesome set, BUT YOU STOLE MY SONG MATT!!!!!!!!!! :P… Next onto the decks was DJ David P with another fine selection of house tunes. After that was a Top RnB set that I enjoyed but I’m sorry I missed the DJ’s name. Robbie P then proceeded to blast the speakers with the smoothest mix of house music, top set right there. Next was a public service announcement claiming that the Experts believe heavy music is dead and gone, but I believe the set that followed really proved otherwise. I Started with Kernkraft 400 – Zombie Nation and ended up on Carnal Knowledge – Scum & Base (Liberteen Remix) from start to finish the crowd seemed to be really enjoying themselves. And last but definitely not least in the competition was DJ Tay playing a good mix of rather Latino House. In the end the rankings ended in Third with a standing ovation DJ Robbie P, Second with a massive smile on his face DJ Tay, and in First place, ever so humbly did he accept this… ME! :D! Well done to everyone who competed in the finals and I’m really looking forward to the next Metro DJ comp! My personal highlight for my set was looking up to see the beautiful Alex K (FitlthyAcidTechno) looking back at me then receiving hugs and kisses :D.
Then I went downstairs, after battling through a sea of congratulations from most of the crowd (ego meter off the scale!!) to go say Hello to DJ Phil G and to receive massive hugs from Berri, Josie, Sarah, Erryn, Ines and just about everyone else around. Phil clocked off a fantastic night and I was buzzing as I left the club…
I had so much fun tonight! If you were there it was fantastic to have the pleasure of your company, if you weren’t… Sorry to say this… But you missed out! 9 out of 10…
